Background: Hitherbest is a sheet metal fabrication and powder coating company, based in Telford, Shropshire. The company offers its many domestic and international customers a complete manufacturing service, from the design and prototyping of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium fabrications, through to production, coating, packaging and delivery.
Opportunity: Hitherbest intends to replace and upgrade its current conveyorized powder coating facility and is seeking proposals for the disassembly of the current plant and the supply, installation and commissioning of a new 56.5m overhead monorail conveyor and gas-fired curing oven.
The new powder coating facility must be able to cure fabrications measuring 1700 x 650 x 3200mm, with a combined mass of 80kg/m.
It is anticipated that the successful supplier will refurbish and repurpose an existing modulating Lanemark burner. The design and construction of the new gas-fired oven should maximise energy efficiency and clearly be able to deliver a reduction in like-for-like gas consumption when compared to the current asset (data available on request). It should be capable of easy adjustment to the desired temperature profile. The design as a whole should be compatible with the use of a Gema MagiCompact EquiFlow automatic and manual coating system, which will be installed and commissioned at the same time as part of the works.
Suppliers are expected to demonstrate that they can comply with all relevant safety legislation in regard to explosion risks. Consideration must also be given to the ease of maintenance and repair of the asset over its lifetime, in particular the safe removal and replacement of burners and motors, given the footprint (27m x 8.9m) and restricted height (4.2 – 4.6m) of the company’s powder coat area. Preference will be given to suppliers who offer ongoing support, in regard to maintenance and servicing.
Selection criteria: The contract will be awarded to the tender that represents best value for money in regard to the specifications outlined above, particularly design features that enable energy savings to be made and permit easy maintenance and repair. Bidders must be able to demonstrate that they have carried out comparable installations in the last 3 years and they have the capability to deliver this project within the preferred installation timescale (6 months). Interested parties are expected to attend for a site visit prior to tender submission. Please contact the Production Director, Steve Hindley, to arrange a mutually convenient time.
Costs and terms: Cost to be stipulated in the proposal, along with suggested payment terms. Payment to be in stages, according to delivery milestones.
To apply: Completed tenders to be received via email no later than midday on Friday 9th December 2022. Emails to steveh@hitherbest.co.uk
